Quy Nhơn – A Charming Coastal Gem
Quy Nhơn, a coastal city in Bình Định Province in south-central Vietnam, is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Unlike the bustling streets of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Hội An, Quy Nhơn remains peaceful and relatively undiscovered. The locals are incredibly friendly, the food is exceptional, and the city’s charm is still intact—so visit before mass tourism changes its soul!
How to Get There
Getting to Quy Nhơn is easy:
✈️ By Air: Fly from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and take the airport bus to the city center (around 50,000 VND, if prices haven’t increased).
🚆 By Train: Travel to Diêu Trì Station, then hop in a taxi to the city center (about 150,000 VND).
🚌 By Bus: The bus station is conveniently located less than five minutes from the city center.
Since Quy Nhơn is a small city, getting around is simple—take a taxi, book a Grab ride, or rent a motorbike for a bit more adventure.
Where to Stay & Things to Do
There are three main areas to consider when choosing where to stay in Quy Nhơn:
1️⃣ City Centre – You can find affordable Airbnbs or homestays in the city, making it a convenient option. Prices are generally reasonable, and you'll be close to local markets, restaurants, and attractions.
🚶♂️ Stroll around the city, soak in the local vibes, and chat with friendly locals.
🏖️ Walk along the coastline, enjoy the sea breeze, and let the relaxed charm of Quy Nhơn win you over.
2️⃣ Southern Coast – For a more relaxing getaway, consider staying at Life’s a Beach or The Big Tree—both tucked away in quiet, hidden spots. The Big Tree is my personal favorite; I discovered it while searching for some Western food and a peaceful retreat. These hostels are located in a small hidden fishing village, about 30 minutes by car from the city center. You can get there by bus, taxi, or Grab. The road leading to this area is a scenic mountain pass connecting Quy Nhơn to Phú Yên, the next province. It was once part of the national highway but now sees little traffic, making for a peaceful and picturesque drive.
🚶♂️ Discover secluded hidden beaches, soak in the local atmosphere, and chat with friendly locals.
🏖️ Take a refreshing swim and enjoy the crystal-clear waters.
3️⃣ Kỳ Co Peninsula – If you love the water, this is a great option. While there’s only one resort available, the area offers plenty of water activities, including diving, swimming, and more. It's perfect for those seeking a beachfront escape with adventure.

Each area offers a different experience, so choose based on whether you prefer city convenience, a tranquil coastal retreat, or a scenic beach adventure! 🌊🏝️ Quy Nhơn is a small city, so if you're staying for more than a day, you can easily explore all three areas.
